I explore the role of a performing arts educator through a performance/talk. How art and education come together is often confusing. Through tracing my personal journey I hope to articulate this identity better and in doing so provide a frame to understand arts education. There will also be an interactive session where participants will get to move together.

I will make a performative presentation that will be 15mins and then set up an interactive session that should be 45mins. My approach to the performing arts is to look at them as movement, speech and sound - and the design of these three elements leads to a performative outcome. I will move and talk about how I have come to understand Form, Technique and Aesthetics in the area of performance with relation to education. The main objective of my work is to make learning through the body accessible to everyone!

Wear clothes you are happy to move in. If you play an instrument - bring it.

Speaker bio

I have a degree in Choreography from Natya Institute of Kathak and Choreography (Bangalore) and a professional diploma in Dance Studies from Trinity Laban (London). But I don't think of myself as a dancer - I design structures in which others can move. I have worked and thought about what I do for 13 years and come to understand my work as quite unique in India!
