Objective

Fiction is a powerful medium for people to learn things about their world. In a digital medium we can begin to mix the factual information with fictional information to create experiences that inspire people to delve deeper into topics and issues that concern their world.

Description

A 20 minute presentation of Anders Sandells latest project - the Jörgits. An illustrated and animated novel for children on the iPad. The Jörgits are a group of aliens who come to planet Earth seeking warmth.The project mixes fiction and fact inspirationally to create a believable and immersive world for both adults and children to spend hours learning, playing and interacting.

Speaker bio

Anders Sandell is the founder of Tank & Bear, a company that designs and publishes storybook apps and craft toys. He's originally from Finland, but grew up in Hawaii. He currently resides in Mysore, India. Anders has a background in Interaction Design, Illustration, and Toy Design. He founded and ran the Toy Lab at the Srishti School of Art, Design, and Technology in Bangalore from 2009-2012.
