To throw light on why Regional Cinema isn’t getting the due respect from from film buffs and why we are not able to make true blue Pan Indian films?
Cinema for most of us means Bollywood/Hollywood,films in our own language or even International/World Cinema. So how much do we really know about films from across India or care for them? What prevents non Bengalis from watching a good Bengali movie for example (same applies to other languages)? What are the challenges involved & the way forward to bring about a change in the scenario?Pan Indian films-reality or not?
Sethumadhavan has been a film critic and industry tracker,a film buff who watches just about any film. After heading the editorial team at the now defunct popular movie portal-Passion For Cinema (www.passionforcinema.com),he went on to start Mad About Moviez (www.madaboutmoviez.com),a movie portal which focuses on small/indie films & regional cinema.Sethu is also associated with a popular Film Studio where he is trying to set up new projects.
