- Performing Arts
- Session type
- Technical level
The objective of this session is to introduce improvisation aka. ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway’ to those who are excited about having a good laugh while practicing some of the basics of this performance art. Improv is a kind of theatre where everything is made up on the spot. It may look easy but believe me, it’s harder than you think. My other objective is to even share with the participants and help them identify the philosophy behind improvisation, which one can gain to understand life in general.
This workshop will see the participants engage in a series of fun exercises that will introduce them to the prime basics of improvisation and at the same time, shed some light on why imrpovisation is a necessary tool in life. Remember, improvisation is a kind of theatre. And theatre is a disciplined medium.
My name is Nasir Engineer. I am 25 years old from Mumbai currently living in Bangalore, working full time with the organizaation, Runners For Life in the Communications wing. I am an out-an-out passionate runner, bicyclist and trekker. Coming to improv, I have learnt and performed improvisation since 2010 with the group ‘Improv Comedy Mumbai’ and have been trained by instructors from the US and other theatre artists in Mumbai. Since the time I got the epiphany that life and improv go hand in hand, I have earned an unwavering respect for this art.
